Do I need ChatGPT or Claude?
No. papergarden can make the whole book for you. If you use ChatGPT, making the book and its pictures is free with a paid ChatGPT plan. With Claude or another AI assistant you only pay for the pictures.
How does making a book work?
There are three ways: papergarden makes the book for you, or you make it in ChatGPT or in Claude. papergarden makes the book: answer a few questions about your child and the story, pay once, and papergarden writes the story, paints every page and emails you when the book is ready. In ChatGPT or Claude: connect papergarden to your assistant, say what the book should be about, and shape every page together in the chat.
How long does making a book take?
When papergarden makes the book: usually 30 to 60 minutes, and papergarden emails you when the book is ready. In ChatGPT or Claude: usually 10 to 20 minutes, longer if you change a lot.
Can I make a book for a grown-up?
Yes. A book for Grandpa's 80th birthday, an anniversary or Mother's Day works the same way: you decide who's in it and what it's about.

What is the best AI for making a children's book?
ChatGPT can write the story and paint the pictures; Claude writes the story and papergarden paints the pictures. Neither can print a book. Without either, papergarden makes the whole book itself.

Will the characters look like the people in my photos?
Yes. Share a photo in the chat and the character looks like that person on every page. No photo? Describe them instead.
What happens to my photos?
papergarden only uses your photos to draw the characters in your book. They are never shared or used to train AI, and papergarden deletes them 30 days after your last change to the book. The drawn characters stay, so you can still change the book later.
What can be in the book?
Anything: people, pets, your house, the car, a favorite toy, a vacation spot. Upload a photo and the place or thing appears in the book as it really looks.

What does making a book cost?
In ChatGPT: free with a paid ChatGPT plan. ChatGPT paints the pictures with your own plan. In Claude or another AI assistant: free except the pictures, which papergarden paints for credits (1 credit each, the cover too; 40 for €6 or 150 for €22, and a book uses about 20 to 30). papergarden makes the whole book for you: €9.95 once for the story and every picture. The printed hardcover is €39 plus shipping, only if you order one.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay per book, and papergarden keeps your books for free.

Changing the book
Can I change a page or a picture?
Yes. Open the book in ChatGPT or Claude and ask, for example “make the dog brown on page 6”. This works for books papergarden made for you too. papergarden saves every version for free, so you can always go back.
Can I share the book?
Yes. Send family the link and they can flip through the book online.
Printing and delivery
What is the book like?
A hardcover, 21.6 × 21.6 cm (8.5 × 8.5 in), with 24 to 84 full-color pages. The price is the same for any number of pages.
Which countries do you ship to?
papergarden ships to 215 countries and territories, across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Before you pay, you see the shipping options for your address. Outside the EU, customs duties or import taxes may be charged on delivery; the recipient pays them.
Can I order more than one copy?
Yes, up to 10 copies in one order. Need more? Email support@papergarden.ai.
What if my book arrives damaged?
Email support@papergarden.ai within 30 days with a photo, and papergarden reprints the book or refunds you. Personalized books have no 14-day right of withdrawal: EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU, article 16(c)) exempts goods made to the buyer's own specifications.
Can I cancel or return a book?
Each book is printed just for you, so it can't be returned. To cancel before printing starts, email support@papergarden.ai right away.
