Make a children's book in any AI assistant (MCP)

4 stepsAbout 15 minutesUpdated Nov 1, 2026

Use another AI assistant? Any assistant that can add a custom MCP server can make a papergarden book. The steps: add papergarden as an MCP server and ask for a book. The assistant writes the story and paints the pictures, or lets papergarden paint them with credits. papergarden lays out the pages and prints the hardcover.

1. Add papergarden as an MCP server

In your assistant's settings, add a custom MCP server (some apps call it a connector) with the address https://papergarden.ai/mcp. The assistant then opens papergarden's sign-in page, and you sign in with your email or Google.

  1. Codex: codex mcp add papergarden --url https://papergarden.ai/mcp
  2. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http papergarden https://papergarden.ai/mcp
  3. Le Chat, Cursor and other apps: add the address under connectors or MCP servers.

2. Ask for a book

Start a chat and say who the book is for: the name and age, the language, who else is in the story, and one thing only your child does. papergarden gives the assistant a step-by-step guide to making a good picture book, so you only answer its questions.

Rather tap than type? papergarden's questions write this first message for you.

3. Pictures from the assistant, or from papergarden

An assistant with its own image model paints the pictures itself. One without, like Claude or Codex, uses papergarden's: 1 credit a picture, about 20 to 30 for a book. Packs of 40 for €6 or 150 for €22 are on the credits page.

Then the wind came, and it took the map. And it took Pip!

The wind blows the map and Pip away from Mila

4. Order the hardcover

When every page is right, ask the assistant to order the book. The assistant gives you a link to papergarden.ai, where you see the full price with shipping and pay.

Any that can add a remote MCP server with sign-in (OAuth), such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Le Chat and Cursor.
